SACRAL Disorder is a Goth rock band from Norway, formed in 2015.
Glyndr had been playing bass in several Norwegian rock and new wave bands, but had secretly been writing gothic songs inspired from bands like Dead Can Dance, Joy Division, The Cure, XIII. Století and IKON.
Anor, a former post-punk band mate on vocals and keyboard was very impressed with the material and was soon involved in the songs’ words and music. Glyndr who had composed most of the material on acoustic guitar and the bass was eager to explore the songs potential. Glyndr contacted drummer Bjorn and guitarist Evindr to explore the material in a full band setting. Both of them having a background from heavy rock and progressive rock.
Together all four worked on the arrangements and the deeper sonic expression of the songs using inspiration from old Norse paganism, Nordic Lutheran Christianity, folk music and historical poems, fairy tales and mystics. The different musical backgrounds resulted in a unique style mixing gothic influences with metal, heavy rock, punk and grunge.
The work was productive and they decided to establish a project with the working title «Dark Vibrations from Nordic Sacristy». During 2015 the project developed and they decided to develop everything into a band – choosing the name Sacral Disorder. For the recording of the project Sacral Disorder decided to work with Trond Holter’s The Rock Ranch Studio with Mr. Holter himself behind the controls and taking care of the mixing and mastering.
St Cecilia joined the band with backing vocals on track Draumkvedet (Dreamsong). She has background from church choir and Nordic folk music, especially from Telemark area. St Cecilia will be in the band for concerts and further activities.
The cooperation with Trond Holter was instrumental in reaching the bands unique sound. The band was hilariously satisfied with the final recording of twelve songs. The songs have elements from several Gothic styles – including classic early 80’s, metal/symphonic, darkwave and neo-psychedelia/ambient, and elements from progressive heavy-rock and Nordic folk music. There were songs with both English and Norwegian words.
The debut album was finished in the autumn of 2016 and the song “My Witch” was released as a single in October 2016. The full recording of all twelve songs will be released early 2017 by the band’s own label Sacral Records. Currently Sacral Disorder works with the live show for the project.
